Ms Lin got teach us the husband and wife thingy right for acid+alkali right?Anyways the husband is the acid and the wife is the alkali.
Example:
Sulphuric acid+Sodium hydroxide=???+water
(Husband) (Wife)
They did something and gave birth to baby. Then they want to name it. So husband give the baby surname
Example:
Sulphuric acid+Sodium hydroxide=??? sulphate+water
(Husband) (Wife) (Surname at the back)
Then wife dunno why go put her name at the front. So:
Sulphuric acid+Sodium hydroxide=Sodium sulphate+water
(Husband) (Wife) (Wife's name)(Surname)
Ok here more examples:
Hydrochloric acid+Calcium hydroxide=Calcium chloride+water
(Husband) (Wife) (Wife's name)(Surname)
Nitric acid+Sodium hydroxide=Sodium Nitrate+water
(Husband)+ (Wife)= (Wife's name)+ (Surname)
Ok now acids and their reactions:
Acid+metal=salt+hydrogen gas
Acid+carbonate=salt+carbon dioxide
Acid+alkali=salt+water
Conduction is the movement of heat through a material without the obvious movement of the material itself
Convection is the movement of heat energy from one place to another by the movement of the material itself.
Radiation is the transfer of energy through a vacuum in the form of waves.
Matter
expands when heated and
contracts when cooled.Applications: Overhead wires, riveting, concrete roads and paths, bridges, thermostats and pipes carrying hot water or steam
To find
density:Mass divided by volumeMass=Density times volumeVolume= Mass divided by densitySolutions:
1)Clear
2)No residue when filtered
3)Solute completely dissolves in the water
Suspensions:
1)Cloudy
2)Residue present when filtered
3)Solute cannot dissolve in the solvent.
God that was like stuffing everything up your brain.
Good luck for the test and remember that this revision is not enough, so go through your textbook again=)
