Reflection on Bullying
Bullying means a person who deliberately intimidates or is cruel to weaker people or an uncultured, aggressive, rude and noisy troublemaker.
People bully others just to prove that he or she is very powerful or feel good about them. I think when these people bully others is just an act of coward ness. People bully others to let others feel that he is very powerful; however, the truth is that he is jut a coward that is afraid of people see him or her as a ‘powerless’ human.
Some people bullys others to attract attention. I feel that these people should not bully others just to attract attention. Instead, he should do more good deeds and let others have a good impression of him. After some times, he might just as well be popular, and not only that, people also would like him. Unlike bully, he would be famous in a bad way, in other words, notorious.
However, not all bullies bully others to feel good about them to attract attention. There are also people who are cruel and they bully others for entertainment. My impression for these people is that they are very cold-hearted and mean. They did not care about how the victims would feel when they are to be bullied.
My conclusion for bullying is that bullying is a very cruel and mean act. We should not bully others as it is an act of cruelty and it is also very mean. I feel that when we witness anyone being bullied in school, we should not hesitate but help the victims by reporting the incident to teachers. However, if we were to witness this outside school compound, we should report this to the police.

Service Learning Day Reflection
I played the role of a crying ghost in the Haunted House, along with two other classmates. It was fun and trilling but quite discouraging at times, especially when the other boys laughed and smirked at us. It was extremely difficult to scare the older boys and we were angry and frustrated, and at one point of time, we did not bother scaring the boys, and only attempted scaring the girls. Of course, we pulled through in the end. ‘
I also helped in preparing and setting up the haunted house. The Haunted House was actually the CD shelter. I mostly helped in cutting the garbage bags and pasting them on the walls so that they draped down to form a backstage area. Before we started preparation, I was afraid that we would not be able to complete the preparations on time as there seemed to be loads of work to be done but there were so little time. However, I am glad that we completed the preparations in the end and also did it very well.
I feel that the Haunted House was very successful not only because we made a lot of money, but also because we were able to overcome many problems and difficulties together as a united team. We were able to experience the thrill of frightening others.
I learnt that to be successful, we have to wok as a team. And to be able to work together well as a team, we have to accept each other’s differences and learn to listen to their ideas and opinions. We must not be bias as well. For instance, if we dislike a particular person, we still have to listen to their ideas and opinions objectively, for their ideas and opinions maybe even better than ours. Hence, we have to put aside all personal feelings and try to accept each other readily.
I also learnt more about our class. I found out that our class is united and has a strong team spirit. We were able to accept each other and worked well together for this service learning project. I could tell that everyone persevered even though there was loads of work to do.
I am extremely proud and happy of our achievements and hope to be able to work together as a class for more such projects in future.

Service Learning Day Reflection
During Service Learning Day, 21st May, my class, 1e6, presented our product: Haunted House. This idea was brought up by one of our classmates. Together, the whole class put in their ideas and we planned it during our CE lessons and some of the English lessons. Although there was some unsatisfactory from our classmates, we manage to put everything in the planning. We even had Saturdays’ gatherings just to plan this big project. I am in charge of doing the posters since I am the CIP leader and my friends and I really put in a lot of effort. For logistics, my classmates contributed a lot, and my form teacher, Miss Thor, also contributed. We even went to Chinatown and Orchard Road to buy some of the things needed. Then, on 19th May, the whole class went back to set up the Haunted House. The process was really fun and tiring. Eventually, from morning to evening, we finished setting up the stations.
The day arrived and we started the game at ten plus. At first, everything was chaotic but after our teamwork, we manage to organize the crowd. Then everything went smoothly although some groups were hard to handle. But it was successful for us. A lot of people supported us by playing the game. In the end, we earned $364!! Our hard work really paid off and we were very satisfied with the results.
From this project, I learnt teamwork wand cooperation. My class’s bond is also stronger. I learnt something new, which is organization skill. I learnt to control the crowd and the speed of the groups going in to play. I think this experience benefited my class a lot.

Service Learning Day Reflection
Our Service Learning Project was on Haunted House. Through this project, 1e6 was more bonded. Some students helped to decorate the haunted house while others contributed by becoming the ghosts. I too was also one of the ‘ghosts’. My job was very simple. It was just to stick out my hands whenever a visitor walks past us. However, little did my friends who had the same job as me and I to think that that people actually would hit us when they are scared. One of my friends, Jasmine Tay, was hit by a book that a girl was holding!!! She was very angry but tolerated as if she were to scream her head off, they would know how we operate the haunted house.
People also used their cameras and turned on flash to snap a shot!! It was so glaring that it hurt our eyes!! I feel that the people are very inconsiderate as I later knew that they did this out of ‘fun’.
Not everything went well, among four of our air-conditioners, only two were to be switched on in order to save electricity and caused almost all the ghosts feel so stuffy!! Our water supply was also cut off to save ‘water bills’! This caused two of my other friends, Sheena and Germaine to have to climb up and down the stairs to collect water for the dry ice as our haunted house is being held in the CD shelter.
However, despite these incidents, I still enjoyed the whole thing. We earned a total of $364 at the end of the day!! When we are supposed to clear the haunted house to the original CD shelter, everyone was so sad and could not bear to tear down the ‘house’.
After this project, I learnt that team work is very important as without everyone contributing, the haunted house would also be that successful!!! I also learnt care and compassion as when one of our classmates was hurt, we were all very concerned about her and cared for her. We must also have fortitude or else we would not able to achieve such great results. If we were to just give up easily when we did not have water supply, we may not have the effect as good as using dry-ice. Another example is when we were to give up when we were hit by others while doing our jobs, we would not have any ghosts left in the haunted house!!
I will always remember this quote by Miss Tan Chye, ‘Whether you had any profit is not that matters. What really matters is the process you had gone through.’

Service Learning Day Reflection
Service Learning Day, the 21st of May, is a day where all Secondary 1 classes put a booth to earn money for their beneficiaries. My class 1E6 presented our product:
The Haunted House.
My duty was to make posters to advertise our haunted house. As I has to pass up the posters on Wednesday, 16th May, my four other friends and I, namely, Hui Xian, Ya Xin, Xing Qin and Jia Yi, rush the work during the holiday on Tuesday. As the work load was really quite heavy, we had to do the work from about 10.00 a.m. to as late as 9.00 p.m. But, we never mind, as it was all for the class.
For the logistics, one of our classmates, Eugenia and our form teacher, Miss Thor contributed a lot. We even went to Chinatown and Takashimaya at Orchard Road to buy some of the things we need. The total cost is about one hundred over dollars.
On the actual day, with some other classmates, we did the make-up for the ‘ghosts’. As some of them were sweating profusely, I told them to sit by the air-conditioner so as to stop all the sweating. Finally, the Haunted House started at about ten plus. At first, I did not have anything to do. After a while, as the person in charge of the flying head had to do something else, I take over his job. It was really fun as I get to scare a lot of people! In overall, I think that it was really successful as this time; I really see almost the whole class contributing and putting effort in it.
I learnt that only with cooperation and effort, we can then complete the work. Like in this Service Learning project, I can see that the boys in class are really contributing and also from this, I had discovered something new about my friends. I learnt that the boys were not that slackly and lazy. Instead, I discovered that they can contribute a lot when they want!

Reflection on Bullying
Bullying differ from just harassment and assault. Bullying accumulation over of many small incidents over a long period may cause the victim being depressed because of the treatment he received though these trivial incidents. Therefore, bullying must be prevented and stopped.
Bullying occurred in many places such as the working places, in school and by strangers. Why do the people bully others? The reason is that they may have poor or no role models to follow. When they have no role model, the child had no opportuninty to learn well. This will lead them to bully others as they did not learn to go the right track.
They can also be abused in home to lead them to give out the frustration they has received. As bullying causes the other party to receive bad treatment, they can feel better because they know well that there is always a person who is receiving the same treatment as them.
It can be also that the child had undue influences. Sometimes a child is forced or persuaded to join some gangs. This causes them to have bad influence and followed the footsteps of the gangsters. They tend to bully others as they felt that that was “cool”. Hence, they will be accepted into the gang.
Bullying is not a small matter but a very serious offence. A child under being bullied will turned out to be a bad person as he was depressed. A child can also bully others when he/she was being bullied. Usually, bullies are often bigger in size. They will choose a person who is weaker than them to bully. They can catch the point that the victim will not inform the teacher. Thus, when you are bullied, do not hesitate to report to teachers or parents to allow them to take actions against such acts. It maybe a simple thing but it is very useful.
Hence, when being bullied, do not suffer in silence.

Reflection on service learning day
I felt that it is very good for a school to organise something called the service learning day. It is really fun and many indeed enjoy the process although the profits don’t go to us but the beneficiaries.
Well, we did a “haunted house” at the CD shelter. We came back on Saturday to paste all the garbage bags etc. Most of our time was spent pasting garbage bags because we still have to paste masking tape on it. It was fun as the outcome is great. On Saturday, I did the pasting of garbage bag mostly.
On the actual day, some of the garbage bags came of and thus we have to paste it back again, also help the so called “hand committee” with their fingernails. Then, we did some last minute touch up. During both lower secondary and upper secondary recess I was outside at the gate there controlling the crowd. The queue is indeed LONG. People were like asking why so long but no choice because the route is short. Well we increase the group number from 5 to like 14?
It is of course a success for e6. We manage to co-operate well and there were not many errors, everything run through well and customers are quite satisfied except the fact that it is too dark.
Although it was just a “haunted house” I did learn a lot of things. Team work, the ability to respond to last minute changes, how to control a crowd, to listen to friends comments. Though the process, there are a lot of things that we can’t find in textbooks.
Through the experience working with my friends, I did learn things too. I also found out some hidden talents. Some of them were really patient with things and some really lead the class well. I felt that I should be more patient with things and in this project I really learn the efficiency when a class work together as one!!!

Reflection on “Service Learning Day”
During Service Learning Day, our class set up a Haunted House to raise fundsSome of my classmates were the ghosts and some were the ‘tourguide’ to guide our ‘customers’ into the Haunted House. We also set up a Composting Booth to explain to our school mate about composting and what it is all about.
I helped out in setting up the Haunted House on two days before the Service Learning Day by putting up the black garbage bags on the celling of the CD shelter and I was one of the ghosts in the Haunted House.I also helped to make ‘advertisements’ for our Haunted House, asking people to come to our Haunted House.
I felt that the Service Learning day was a success as we collected about $300 from the sale from our Haunted House.
I learned that if everyone all work hard together, our efforts would not be wasted as almost all of my classmates helped out in Service Learning Day and our hard work was paid of with the sum of money we earned.
I learned that if there is a will, there will be a way as my classmates and I, managed to persever until after school to manage the Haunted House.

There was this “service learning day” for all the secondary ones on Monday, and our class had a lot of fun! We set up a haunted house to show the school that service learning day can be fun and also to promote our composting bin that our class had started since the start of the year.
Our haunted house was not very scary. From my friends of other classes, it was funny than scary! We would have two ju-on at the door playing marbles, and a girl ju-on scaring our customers everywhere they go. Then we will have a flying head, followed by the tickling of feet with the brooms. Then, hands will be flying out of the garbage bags and the hands will then tickle their shoulders. Next was the girl ghost, zheng-zi, which was said to be the scariest part of the house. And there was the bin which had a doll inside with water. The bin would suddenly open and some of the girls screamed loudly. After that, there would be a person lying down on a table, with a white cloth covering him/her. He/she will then sit up quickly and shout, and that was our last ghost.
I was in the place where the hands will come out of the garbage bags, along with four other friends. We were kicked by the students, hit by them too. Some of them was scared, so they accidentally hit us. While the others purposely hit us and some even said we molested them!
I think the haunted house was very successful. We collected a total amount of around $364.25. most of the customers were at least scared by one of the ghosts, and a lot of them came for the second time.
From this activity, I learnt that we must always stay united as a class, and help each other in need. For example, if we do not help one another, like when setting up our haunted house, there will be a lot of work for one person. When we help another person, that particular person will have lesser work, lesser stress, and a faster time to do finish the work.
I also learnt that I can do a lot of things with my small hands. I helped my classmates with a lot of things and gave some suggestions.
I hope there will be more of these activities next time. It was really fun!

Service Learning Reflection 23 May 2007
It has been a few days since service learning day. Frankly, I really enjoyed that day and the days we spent setting out the haunted house. We had to cut the garbage bags into half, then we spent almost half of the day hanging up the garbage bags, it was indeed hard work.
The class committee members took out great time to buy the things we need for the setting up of the haunted house. It was them who thought of the idea of having haunted house for our service learning. Miss Thor also tried to help by borrowing some fake heads from her friend; she even brought her doll to school to contribute to our haunted house.
On that day when we set up our haunted house, I can admit that we put in a lot of effort to hang the garbage bags. Due to the fact that some of us are too short, we have to climb on chairs in order to touch the ceiling. We have to tolerate with the hot condition in the CD shelter as the air conditioners were all being covered by the garbage bags.
Some of my good friends and I volunteered to be the hand ghosts. Our job is to tickle people who walks pass us. I found it great to be able to contribute to this service learning activity. Due to the fact that our hands could not be seen in the dark, we went out one day together to buy some white and red fingernails, so as to make our hands more noticeable.
I found this really a success, I felt great as the class committees can think of such a creative idea of having a haunted house instead of selling things, which is quite common. It’s just that some obstacles cropped up during this activity. Some of our things got spoiled, complaints from the ‘ghosts’ that they were molested, other than this, it went fine.
From this activity, I learnt a lot. I know that it is compulsory to have a class spirit, if there is no class spirit, this will not turn out to be a success. I learnt about perseverance, we need to have perseverance when setting up the haunted house. If not for perseverance, we would be defeated by the hot condition in the CD shelter. If not for perseverance, we would not have hang up the garbage bags again and again when they dropped off. We learnt about care and compassion too from this activity, we need to help one another to make-up and put on fake nails for our friends. For example, my friends help to pass me scotch tape and I helped to pass them on the garbage bags and onto the wall.
From this activity, I can also learn more about myself and my friends. I found that I am very impatient; I think that the customers are really slow and I can’t wait to tickle them. I am also one person who can’t tolerate heat; I have to go to the air conditioners every 3 to 4 minutes. I found out that my friends are very caring as they help to put on those fake nails for me.
I think that the duration for this service learning day should be longer as I really enjoyed it very much. I hope that there will be more activities like this in future.

On service learning day, our class set up a haunted house that was located in the CD shelter. The weekend before the service learning day, most of the classmates went back to help to set up the haunted house. I went back too. I helped to put up the garbage bag. Then, I went to my station to cut holes that allow me to stretch out my hands. On service learning day, I was one of the hand committee members. The committees include Xue Min, Delia and Wei Li. We tried different ways to stretch out our hands to scare people. We started to paste long, fake nails on our fingers but the nails started to drop before the haunted house started. We also tried to wear light stick on our hands to get attention from the students coming in. After that, we thought that, when they walked near us, we would touch them and pull the upper secondary boys ‘pants. It was fun but some of the students started to pull and beat our hands. Some students did not behave themselves as they tried to come into where we were hiding. Despite of all these, I really enjoyed myself.
I feel that our haunted house was a great success to everyone in 1e6. The queue was very long and we earn a lot. We earn about 300+. I feel very proud of my class and myself. The whole class really put in a lot of effort to set up the haunted house. It was true that setting up a haunted house was not easy but we managed. Our class showed strong team spirit and fortitude to continue to work even harder to earn more money. I feel we are like a big family and we became more united. I learned that no matter what we do, working together cooperatively is most important. Thus, this service-learning day is very meaningful to me and I will not forget.

Reflection on service learning day
After all preparations for the coming service learning day, the most exciting day was finally here. Our class was in charge of the composting haunted house during the service learning day. The haunted house was held in the CD shelter and it was opened during both the recesses, and it was opened even after school too.
All of us had different roles in the haunted house for example, the opera ghost, the hands community, operators, advertisers and more... Amelia, Yan Ni and I had acted as the crying ghosts in the haunted house. We were purposed to let down our long hair, sit at a corner of the haunted house and cry. However, we ended up scaring other students with our faces covered by our long hair. We took turns to act as the crying ghost as it was a really tiring role. You may think that being a crying ghost did not really sound that hard at all. It may sound simple and easy but it was not really that simple after all. As 2 of the 4 air-conditional were not swtich on, it was really warm inside the CD shelter. All of us were perspiring and we hardly took any breaks due to the long queue of customers outside the CD shelter. Thus, we were tired and restless easily.
However, i think that our efforts did not go into drain after all as the haunted house was a major success. Due to the long queue of customer outside the CD shelter, we managed to earn a lot of money and we managed to earn more money compared to other classes. Everyone had done their best for the haunted house. Everyone was very hardworking and we take care of one another, cooperate with one another. Thus, the haunted house was a major success and this was what we should be awarded for all we had done.
From the service learning day, i learnt to have fortitude and responsbility. When i was doing my part as the crying ghost for the haunted house, i learnt to have fortitude and responsbility. During the service learning day, everyone including me did our best for the haunted house. Although, we were all tired and restless, we did not complain, we just carry on with our jobs and we did not give up at all. We also did not push our jobs to each other, letting other students to do much more than what we had done. Thus, i learned to be responsible and learnt to have fortitude.

Reflections on Service Learning Day
This monday, it was our service learning day. All the secondary ones set up stalls and they sold food, drinks and some even set up games. Our stall were very different from the others and it was a haunted house. As you know, a haunted house is a house filled with ghosts. Our class pupils all contributed and acted like ghosts while some of them were the operators. All the ghosts put on make-up and the most realistic "ghost" was Xing Qin. She was a "Ju-on" and she looked really scary.I was also a "Ju-on" with Xing Qin and Jing Pin. Although Jing Pin's make-up was not the most realistic, he looked very cute in his make-up. I felt that my make-up was the ugliest because Yuan Xuan made me look like "Batman". I had no choice but to go and wash off all my make-up and ask Xin Yan to help me to make-up.
Our "Haunted House' was prepared on Saturday and on the actual day, Monday. I could not go to help on Monday and I really felt very ashamed of myself. However, I helped out in the preparation on the actual day. I helped to put lightsticks, control the flying head and others. Although I know it was not much, I really hoped I had contributed in a way. I feel that the service learning project was very successful as we had earned a lot of money. We earned over three hundred dollars and I found that it was a lot. Although Miss Thor's vase broke halfway through the project, the others were all fine. From this experience, I learned that teamwork is very important for a group. Without teamwork, a group would be very disorganised and united, causing quarrels or even fights to happen between them.
From this service learning project, I learnt that my friends were very caring, responsible and united. The welfare officers also showed care and compassion by helping those who are afraid out of the CD shelter. Our class were also very responsible in what they should do and they helped one another with problems faced.I found that 1E6 was a very enthusiastic class and I really loved joining 1E6.

My Reflection on service learning day
I think that service learning day is a realy great experience for me.Of course,I had similar activities like this in my old school. But this is the first time that the the whole class get to participate in this type of activity , but I must admit that I did not think that the haunted house would be so successful as the number of people who turned up was a great.I think that the haunted house looked really cool and scary when the lights are turned off.I was really scared even when I knew the tricks inside ,and I couldn't help but scream out loud.Although many seniors (girls) were scared but the boys were very sarcastic and well, maybe unimpressed, but the good thing is that although some of the visitors told their friends the tricks inside, they still wanted to try it out themselves, after all curiosity kills the cat.The service learning day was really very fun and we got to visit the other classes stores .I especially fancy 1E5's chocolate fountain as it was a very innovative idea and there were many people there too.I really liked the idea of a service learning day and I think that it would be great if the school holds such activities like this in the future.I hope to look forward to the next year's service learning day.

Reflection on bullying
In my point of view, I think that people bully others because they themselves feel insecure and some just for fun, they do not realize that by doing this, they hurt their victims very much. I think they have no right bullying other people, as every one is equal as everyone is a student in the school.
If I was the victim, I would tell my teacher or my friends, I will not want the bullying go worse and continue, and keeping things bottled up within yourself do not help matters very much and it may also cause me to lose interest in everything I do.
If I was to witness a case of bulling I would tell a teacher immediately and maybe even call the discipline mistress/master for help and seek further help. I will do this because I do not want cases of bullying to affect my fellow schoolmates.
I think that bullying is a very serious case worldwide. There are many types of bullying for example, name calling, teasing and physical bullying for example kicking, hitting or punching their victims .The victims grow up to be full of hatred, and full of depression, they may harm themselves and may become bullies themselves when they grow up, and become anti-social. One good example is the Virginia Tech killing of 33 people led by Korean student Cho Seung Hui.In news it is stated that he was anti-social and the long theme of being ignored by his schoolmates caused him to 'explode' suddenly and in a fit of extreme anger and hatred he led a deadly shooting of his 32 classmates. This shows us the effects of bullying is very serious, and I believe there is not only one such case in the world, bullying must be stopped or the case of the Virginia Tech killing might be repeated again. Schools can be sending some teachers or security guards to patrol around the school and maybe holding assembly talks about bullying, these may aid the prevention of bullying .We can help the victims by counseling them, having peer support, peer mediation, and conflict management to make them confident again and not feel traumatized by the bullying
We can help the bullies themselves by giving harsh punishments and counseling in order not to let them or even other students in the school to repeat it again.

reflections on service learning day // 9:10 PM.
During the preparation for Service Learning Day, I helped to do the posters with Xin Yan, Hui Hien, Xing Qin and Ya Xin. We all went to Xin Yan’s house to do the posters. We put in a lot of effort on them. On that day, we had no time to waste. We had to finish all the poster by the next day. However, Xing Qin and I had to go back earlier in the afternoon or evening. Xing Qin had something on and I was not feeling well. Only the three of them stayed. Luckily, they managed to rush the poster out by around 10pm. They were all drained out by the end of the day.
Before the actual day, we went back to school to set up the haunted house. It was a tiring day. We went to the school early in the morning and went back home in the late afternoon. We had to do a lot of things on that day. We hade to move boards and set up everything in the haunted house. We had to cover the whole place with garbage bags. That was not easy, as the room is quite big. However, it was worth it. I learnt teamwork and how to do work orderly. With that, we finished the work on time. The boys put in more effort than usual. They had helped to carry the boards down to the CD shelter, which was not an easy task to do.
On the actual day, everyone was so excited and enthusiastic. Everyone rushed down as fast as our legs could carry to the CD shelter, as we had no time to waste. In the CD shelter, I helped the hand community members to put up fake nails and wrap aluminum foils on their fingers. I also helped to put up some make ups on the crying ghost.
Everything was quite successful. My friends exclaimed that there was a long queue outside the CD shelter. Our props frightened people who came in mostly, which is a successful thing. We also learnt a lot of lessons from this Service Learning Day.
However, there are some unpleasant things. Two of the back air- conditioner was switched off where the crying ghosts were. They had put up make-ups but some were smudged as they were perspiring profusely. Another thing was that the customers hit some of our ghosts. Some of the customers complained for letting them wait so long as there was a long queue. They were not pleased for waiting too long. The last thing was that Ms Thor’s favourite lamp was broken. When she realized that her lamp was broken, she was so sad. Even if Ms Thor did not say, the whole class also knows that she is sad. Sorry Ms Thor for the broken lamp. Ms Thor had sacrificed a lot for us. Her lamp was broken and her doll was wet. Thank you Ms Thor, for all these!
After all this, I had learnt a lot. I learnt that we have to manage time properly and cooperate with our classmates. A lot of teamwork is required for this activity to be successful.
I also learnt something about my classmates. The boys in our class are always not serious. However on that day, they put in a lot of effort. They helped out a lot. They can be very helpful if they want. Even though they played and fooled around, they played their parts as the ghost, operator and others. They did the tasks that were assigned to them.
The Service Learning Day was a fun and successful one! Our class did a great job!

Service Learning Day
Our class decided to do a Haunted House for the service-learning day. It is not a very big project but we have put in a lot of effort. We had to put up the paths and the scary stuff in the CD shelter.
My role is the safety officer, who is in charged of assisting pupils who got too scared to the exit, though I think only a small number of pupils would be intensely afraid. I enjoy doing my part as a safety officer because I get to help horrified schoolmates with pale faces.
During the whole event, I stayed ‘underground’ with my some other classmates most of the times. It was dark when the lights were switched off – but we got accustomed to it after a few seconds. We had a great time scaring people and most importantly, that is our job and we would not be punished because we scare people!
I find that our class can really be cooperative and serious when we face a crucial moment. Therefore, I think together we have put the project into a success as we did attracted a long queue and quite many people were eager to try going there. I learnt that every individual in the class can play a part, help out and contribute as long as we want to. In addition, I found that even a minor role plays a huge contribution in the scaring people part.
In conclusion, I enjoy the service learning day project a great deal, as I get to have closer bonds with my classmates and learn that cooperation is the key to success.

reflection on service learning day // 1:10 PM.
On service learning day we did a project on haunted house. We prepared the haunted house in a CD shelter. As we wanted to make it look creepy and dark, we pasted garbage bag all over the room using scotch tape. After we’re done, we hanged an upside down head at the entrance so that when people come in, the head will fall right in front of them and scare them off. Next, people will hide behind the garbage bag and make a few holes which is just right 2 fit their hands in. Thus, when people come in, they will be able to touch them. Then, the opera ghost will pop up of nowhere and give them a “ boo” wearing a opera mask. After that, is the crying ghost. The crying ghost will suddenly stand up and scare them using a torchlight by putting under their face. Next, is a lamp with a fake head with wig on her hair. It isn’t really scary, but under the dark, anything will look creepy. As they walk straight, there is a bin. While they pass by, the bin will just suddenly open and a doll will pop out. As they make for the exit, a person lying on a table with white cloth over him will sit up and scare. After preparing all this, we used whiteboard and a piece of long dark blue cloth to surround the pathway for the operators to work and prevent form being seen.
Before the whole thing start, we were busily preparing ourselves. On that actual day, I was putting make-up for my face as I was one of the crying ghost. However, due to the high temperature, I was sweating profusely and the make-up were smudged every time it’s applied on my face. So, we had came up with a good idea. We decided to stand just right in front of the air-con and put on our make-up. Thus, this had solved the problem. We also put on red fake nails on our fingers to give the effect. Soon after, it was time to let customers come in. The first batch was a pretty successful one. The girls screamed so loudly I could hardly hear what my friends are trying to tell me. So, more and more people came rolling in. However, there’s one particular batch who broke one of the prop used, which was the lamp that belonged to our teacher! I am not sure whether they did on purpose but I sure hope that the next time such incident will not happen again!
After the recess had ended, we were given a break. That’s when I realized that my eyes and my face were a bit red and swollen. It was then when I found out I was allergic to face-paint! So, my teacher told me to take a rest and not be the crying ghost anymore. I felt both sad and happy. I felt sad because I cannot take a role in the haunted house anymore and I was happy as it can give me a break from a tiring day. However, my “ bad luck “ didn’t stop here. As we use lightstick in the haunted house, one of the lightstick leaked and it went into my left eye! It was really painful and I could not even open my eyes! Luckily my class chairman brought me to wash my eyes, and because of that, I could not enjoy myself hundred percent. However, my eyes are fine now and I could still see clearly now. What a close call.
Soon, the whole thing came to an end. We tore down the place and pack the stuff very quickly and efficiently. Then, the exciting part came.
We were getting ready to count the total amount of money we earned! Those few minutes were the longest minutes of my life. Soon, the result was out. We earned over three-hundred dollars! It was beyond everyone’s expectation. So what we did were worth it! I felt like flying to the sky and jumping up and down. It was really a lot of money to me.
After everything was done, I felt really tired and sleepy. The whole day with something I’m allergic to on my face, having to scream at everyone I see which pass by me, not eating enough, and so much more. However, I really enjoyed myself. Although it was a tiring and long day for me, it had brought me new friendships with other people in the class which I am not close to, even for the past few months. I interacted and co-operated with new partners and people which I had never worked with. It was a brand new experience working with them and I enjoyed myself pretty much.
Also, I found out that everyone have another side of themselves. Some of my friends might seem really quiet in class, however, when they are taking part in the haunted house and is acting as a ghost, they can really do a good job and scare people’s heads off. I also found out that some of our classmates are quite approachable and friendly. Nowadays when I walk pass them, we’ll give each other a smile or just say a simple “hello” . This haunted house had indeed been an successful one, because we could earn money to donate to those who needs it, and lastly, to know and tie tight our knots with our friends, that’s the most important lesson to me after this service learning project and I’m really glad that all of us benefited in this project.

reflections on service learning day // 9:19 PM.
Reflection on Service Learning Day On 21 May 2007, is the service learning day for all secondary one pupils. On this day, all secondary one classes are requested to set up a booth to sell something in order to earn money and donate it to some organization. Before the service learning day, most of the students from our class turn up on 19 May 2007 to set up the haunted house which is what we are doing for service learning day. I went to school on that day as well to help out in setting up the haunted house. We spent a total of six hours or more to set up our booth. Although it was tiring, we enjoyed ourselves very much. Finally the day has come! On that day, I am the cashier. There is a long queue of students waiting to go inside the haunted house even before we open up for business. I collected the money while my partner, Jie Lin, stamp on our customer's hand to prove that they have pay the entry fees. During this process, my partner and I learn to co-operate with each other. I think this haunted house is a great success as we earn a lot of money. Some teachers even suggested to let us open for one more day. Many students who went inside the haunted house came out with smiling faces. This proves that they enjoy themselves with this activity which we put up, and thus it was a great success. From this experience, I learn that when we are united as one, we are able to co-operate with each other and thus, able to complete the task given to us more quickly. This activity also give me the opportunity to uphold our school core values: integrity, responsibility and fortitude. -- Tong Xiao Xin (25)

Reflection on Bullying
Bullying, when looked up in a dictionary, has the meaning: deliberately frighten someone who is smaller are weaker than you.
I learnt that even by small things like calling other people or your friends names is also called bullying. I did not think about it too much but when you look back, yes, I am bullying my friends by calling them names as they does not want to be laughed at. I also does not want my friends to do that to me too, so now, whenever I wants to call people names, I would think before I do it as maybe this “funny” act of mine may hurt their pride.
I really hated bullies as I witnessed my friend being bullied by a senior in my primary school. He was a naughty boy who always gets into trouble. As my friend and I were taking the same school bus back home with him everyday, we witnessed how he had bullied the lower primary students. Soon, my friend became one of targets too. He bullied her by scolding her with vulgarities, called her names and as the juniors were scared of him, no one stand against him. Those that were of his age did not stand against him too, instead, they watched and even helped him. One day, my friend finally broke into tears and I was very angry with him that I shouted at him and shouted me back. So, we got into an argument and it did not stop until I got down from the bus. Soon after that, a senior who were of the same age of him started to stand against him and they even got into a fight one day. They did not stop arguing until they left the school. My friend who was bullied had a even stronger character and stand against bullies now as she finally realized that she will not be bullied if she stand against them instead of keeping quiet and let them bully her.
People may think that bullying other and bullies are cool, but they are not! Bullies are cowards. Bullies think that when they bully others, people will think they are cool, but to me, they just have lack of security.

Reflection on bullying
Bullying happens when one person or a gang of people use their strength or power to hurt or frighten weak, smaller or less pwerful people. Bullying often happens in the school. Weak and small students are often bullied by other students who are more powerful than them. A bully can threaten the victims or demand for things. For example, the gang of people threatened a person to help them complete their homeworks, assignments or the gang of people can threaten a person and demand money from him/her. Such incidents had happened in Singapore a lot of times. One of this incident had happened recently and it was related to a girl who had drown and passed away. From a article of the newspaper, we knew that that girl and her friends often bullied a senior in their school. They also demanded money from her. At first, the gang only demanded a few dollars from the senior. However, when time passed by, they began to demand for more money. The senior often made herself ill and she refused to go to school to study. When she heard that the girl had drown, she typed this phrase in her blog '' Serve her right!!!!!'' Although, she had apologised to the victim's friends and victim's parents for typing this in her blog, the victim's friends did not forgive her. They beat her up, knocked her head against the wall and gave her twenty plus tight slaps on her face, making her to have hearing problems. They also break the pots of flowers outside the senior's house. This is only one of the cases that happened in Singapore. I hardly faced any problems related to bullying in my life. I was abled to maintain good relationships with my classmates. We often take care, look after one another. Thus, i think such incidents will not happen on me.

reflections on bullying // 9:18 PM.
Some teenagers bully others just purely for the sake of bullying: for fun, to please themselves as they might have treated bullying as some kind of pleasure. Others bully maybe because that person that they are bullying, has hurt his or her friend in some way or another, and hence wants to take ‘’revenge’’ for them. I feel that all problems can be solved peacefully. We should not resort to using our fists or bullying to settle those problems. If I were a victim of a bullying case, I would, of cause report it as soon as possible. This would be able to help the others as they would then know who are the bullies, and stay away from them to avoid any unnecessary trouble with them, and not end up being victims themselves too. If I were to witness a bullying case, I would of cause report it too. As mentioned in the first paragraph, we should not resort to using our fists or bullying to settle those problems. That would not only not solve the problem, but worsen it too. I had witnessed a bullying case whereby a guy was being bullied. He was being kicked and hit all around as he rejected the cigarettes that the bullies offered him. Although so, that boy still had much courage and walk away from them as fast as possible. Me and one of my other friend who had witnessed the incident reported it to a teacher the next day. I do think that bullying is a serious case in our school or in schools in Singapore and worldwide. The school, should of cause stop those bullying cases as much and soon as possible. The school should provide counseling to both the victim and the bully/bullies. Counseling to the victim to ease his or her mind; the bully to let him or her realize that what he or her have/or are doing is wrong, and should repent.

ON SERVICE LEARNING DAY,I WAS UPSTAIRS CONTROLLING THE CROWD,CHECKING IF THEY PAID AND MADE SURE THAT EVERYONE QUEUED UP PROPERLY WITHOUT CUTTING QUEUE.However, some secondary 4T n 3T managed 2 jump queue although i was looking.I guess i was not doing my duty well, perhaps i was too tired as i slept at around 3am the day before. After all,the group behind them managed to go first as Samuel Ang,our facilitator told us about it,i apologised n they went first.Although the 4T n 3T people were unhappy n hurled vulgarities at almost everyone at the door,we did what we were supposed to do and everything went right went right later on.For the preparation,i don think i did much, people like xin yan and yaxin did more, they even did the posters that were pasted around the whole school and outside the CD shelter.I only did the pasting of garbage on the ceiling.
I think the whole project was a success and i m also quite sure that our class will win most of the prizes available, especially the most cooperative class or the best class spirit as almost everyone came back on a saturday to help except for those who had some important things to attend to.I also hope that our class will win the best overall class. From the experience,i learnt that if my class works together as one,it can be very good.I can also see that most of my friends are very active and did their duties well, although we all argued because 1 thing or another,we did it to let the haunted house become better. The overall result was very good and we also earned alot of money.

Reflection On Service Learning Day
Service Learning Day was a fun but tiring day for our class. My class did the Haunted House which attracted many customers.
On the Saturday before the Service Learning Day, our class went back to set up the Haunted House in the CD Shelter. I stuck the garbage bags onto the wall, help my teacher while she was pinning up the black cloth onto the boards, carried down the boards to the CD shelter and some other things. On the actual day, I was one of the tour guides and we brought the people that wanted a tour guide through the maze while we guided those people who did not need a tour guide down the staircase as the staircase was really dark.
I feel that our project was a great success as many people was frightened by the Haunted House and we even had a queue that went across the school’s car park road and round a tree and back. My class was all tired in the end but we did not feel tired at all during it.
From this whole event, I learnt that I can be a tour guide now as in the past, I always thinks that I cannot be a tour guide as my language skills is very poor and that I cannot speak clearly. I also learnt that my class is very united from the way we worked during the event. We had very good teamwork and co-operation as the “ghosts” managed to scare the customers on time from the way we gave them the cue. I hope that my class will always stay united like this in the future.

REFLECTION ON SERVICE LEARNING DAY
On the day of the Service Learning Day, the secondary ones were required to set up some booths. As for 1e6, we set up a Haunted House. On the actual day itself, many people came to our booth and that made us earned a lot of money. Of course, before we can start anything, we have to do some preparations in the CD shelter. So, many people, not all, came on 19th May, Saturday, to prepare our Haunted House. Basically, the place was covered by garbage bags. That made our place look dark and people was able to hide behind. Other than the garbage bags, we also brought things that were able to decorate our place to make it spooky. Though it was really tough work, we still had fun.
On Monday, we just fixed the falling garbage bags and help the “ghosts” to put make-up on them.
We also put the light sticks on the floor. People came in and some were scared but some weren’t really scared at all. Although the lamp on the table broke, but we still continued with our Haunted House. The success of our Haunted House was mostly because of our “ghosts”, which includes Jingpin, Xingqin, Anthony, Yanni, Amelia, Huishan, Yuanxuan, Bingshen, Joanne, Vincent and the head. Also, we also have to thank the Hands Committee too. Although the hands of the people in the Hands Committee got hit by some people, but they did a really good job.
Through this Service Learning Day, our class had became more united and became more cooperative. I think we really did a great job and we really deserve the awards. At least, we have got to at least win one. Even if we did not win, try not to be disheartened as we’ve already tried our best and did whatever we can.

Reflection on bullying
According to the dictionary, bullying, or bully, means:“To hurt or frighten someone who is smaller or less powerful than you, often forcing them to do something they do not want to do”
These acts are faced by many, and most of them are students. These are not only happening in schools but in places where bad companies hang out at. Some examples of bullying are threatening people, calling them names, “playing” with them like their punching bags, beating them up for things they want or grudges they hold against them, extortion of money, etc.
These acts hurt the victims either emotionally and physically. And such acts usually happen because the bullies want “pride” and “respect” from their peers, and these bullies usually turn up in groups. They think that by doing such acts, they can get what they want by making people fear them, to make them to obey their orders. And these bullies usually have people to back them up and help them, forming gangs. But they are actually cowards deep down inside, maybe these happens because they land up in the wrong company and pick up bad examples from their “friends”. I think that such acts are ridiculous because they not only ruin your own reputation but also your family’s. They give people an impression that you are not brought up properly by your parents and is a bad child or a bad friend to have.
Having to get all these bad impressions, is it really that good to bully others and let others give you the name of a bully, thinking that by being a big bully people will fear and obey you? Think about it, it wouldn’t do much good to you, right? If your parents were to know that you have such a bad behaviour in school, what would they think of you and how would they feel? They will be sad, those who loves you will be sad. They want to know that you are someone worth their trust their time and their love, so don’t betray their trust for you.
Bullying can be resolve by letting the people of higher authorities know, in that case, the bullies of the same rank of a student will not be able to fight back and do nonsensical things to hurt her/him.
I feel that the bullies out there should think through their actions and think about how much they’ve gain from doing such acts and how did their acts affected the others. If you were in their shoes, how would you have felt? Demoralized? Angry? Afraid? And the consequences of such act are not small, getting reprimanded, punished, lose true friends because of such acts, these all are not worth such acts. Bullying is bad, so as far as possible, don’t do it. I think that’s all I have to say about bullying.

Service Learning Day Reflection
Saturday, 19th may, was an eventful day for all of the people in class 1E6. We had to put up decorations in the CD shelter to make it look like what we have planned it to: a haunted house. Although I arrived late, there was still plenty much to complete. The boards were not up yet, the props needed were not placed at their positions yet… In fact, only the walls were finished. Once I had arrived, I had to help JinPing and HuiHien with the preparation of masking tapes for everyone who needed them. We had to go around with the tapes on our arms and let everyone took what they one. It was a painful experience for me especially as I was the one whose hair was getting ripped off. When they removed the tapes from my arm, they had to do it with such force that most of my hairs were gone. Once most of the garbage bags were put up, I had to go around to see if there were any need of touching ups. I managed to patch up some of the gaps with tape and once I finished my job, I had to go around collecting rubbish. JinPing was kind enough to help me in the end and with nothing to do left; I went to help YaXin with taping of the garbage bags for the boards. A test trial was conducted and being one of the ghosts, I had to get into my position and scare the people passing by. Of course they were not really scared when they saw my partner jump out of the expected position but they did not expect my sudden appearance from somewhere else and because of that, I really scared the wits of some of the testers, HuiHien and JiaYi especially. Overall, the day had been quite fun and I really did regret for not coming earlier.
On the actual day itself, which was Service Learning Day, I had to get into my position as the second opera ghost. Throughout the day, I changed my position many times. After a trip from the first few customers, I realized that my part was not really successful so instead of scaring them by jumping out suddenly, I decided to sit on one the chairs and wave at them as they pass by. Unfortunately, some of the customers were really enthusiastic, to the point of being over-enthusiastic as some of them actually tried to slap my hand, hold my hand or even trying to do a high-five. Since most of them were girls, I am not really complaining… Yuan Xuan was not as me as when it was his turn to be out there, one of the customers tried to wrench off the mask from his face. I also had to endure some blows on my mask and it really hurts to have your face smacked like that, even with the mask on. In fact, it actually adds to the pain with the mask on. A group of customers, three sec3 girls, were really clever enough to bring their digital cameras, taking photos of practically everything. I also had to pose a shot for them. Luckily I had my mask on so my identity was not disclosed. It was a class effort and when we counted out our earnings, I was really surprised that we managed to earn that much. It was $300+/- which meant that about 300 students came to our booth, one fifth of the school population in fact. It had been a really big success.
From this whole thing, from the preparations to the actual day, I learnt one thing which many people know but had failed to grasp and that is team spirit. If it had been only one person doing all the boarding up, it would have taken him at least one day and if he had hired some other people who he did not even know well to appear on that day, the hired people may not co-operate and the customers will fail to grasp the spookiness of the haunted house. The earnings we got were well deserved, seeing that we had worked together well to build up the whole place and playing our parts well. Although we have team spirit, it was not enough to last us the whole day. Some of us were worn out from their roles and were turning spiteful, occasionally saying curt to their friends if they did something wrong. Part of it was actually caused by our customers actually. We did emphasize that nothing could be touched but our customers could not resist hitting some of us, causing pain which added to our worries. The only thing I learnt about myself so far was that I could actually cut and paste. I never knew that I could do a little of art and craft…

Reflection on Service Learning Day 2007
Service learning day is a day where the Secondary One pupils come together as a class to set up the booths that they have decided on. To me, the purpose of Service learning day was for friends and teachers bonding and also to see how well they can cope with stuffs and obstacles as a team.
I acted as the ghostly being in the morning and tour guide in the afternoon. I think that I have done my part for Service learning day but I still have rooms for improvement. I have also went back to school on Saturday to help set up the haunted house and put up the posters that were done by our classmates around the school, to advertise our project to them.
I feel that the haunted house was a success as many people queued up outside the CD-shelter even before it was open for business. Not only did we earn a lot of money but also we gained experiential learning which cannot be gained in school at all times. Teamwork could also be seen. When obstacles were met, we solved it within a short time frame.
I have learned that there is nothing in this world that cannot be solved if others can solve the problems they have faced. When obstacles are met, just sit down and settle them slowly as slow and steady wins the race. I have also learned that if there is not any teamwork in a team, the particular team would collapse. Sometime, we have to be a listener instead of always being an advisor. We should also not be biased towards our friends as others might have better ideas and it is not fair to judge a person by its look. I have also learned the school core values- fortitude, responsibility, care and compassion and integrity. This was derived from the obstacles we have faced example the light that was broken, our beneficiary, duties and customers who have caused chaos in there.
I have found out that I can be a listener instead of an advisor. On the other hand, I have also found out that there are quite a number of people who are potential leaders, though they have kept quiet and contribute through out. It is only a matter of time before they unleashed their own potentials. Just like the code says ‘Too many cooks, spoil the broth.’ Sometimes, if there were less people, things would turn out to be more successful. Also, we should not care about the amount we earned but the process we have enjoyed. In addition, I have also learned that action is louder than words. On the other hand, I have learnt that the little effort we put in can make such a huge difference.
The end.

Reflection on Service Learning Day
On Service Learning Day, Secondary 1E6 did the Haunted House in the CD Shelter. It was dark and scary when the lights were turned off. We started building up our station two days before the actual day.
When we were preparing the station, the ones who had ideas shared their ideas whereas those who didn’t helped in the carrying of boards and stuff like the boys who had no ideas but helped in the carrying of heavier objects.
I feel that the project was quite successful because most students went out of the Haunted House with happy faces. I believe they had a good time in our station. Although there were some students who went out saying that going into the Haunted House was not worth it, the efforts of the members of the class were very good.
From this experience I learnt that unity in a group of people doing something was the most important factor for that event to be a successful one. This was shown during the event where everyone helped out in one part or another and everyone carried out their duties well and helped each other out during the event.
I learnt that my classmates around me are helpful people and try their best to finish their jobs when the whole class is involved in an event. This is valuable because some classes might not be as united as our class is.

reflections on service learning day // 7:56 PM.
21st May was a special day for secondary 1. It was the first time the secondary 1 participated in Service Learning Day. We, 1e6, had prepared a lot for this activity. Our main idea was to 'make' a haunted house. We spent time planning everything and preparing the materials.
Finally, our idea was accepted and we began working. On a Saturday, most of the pupils came back and do the set-up. We used black trash bags to cover the sides of walls. I helped to cut open the trash bags and pasted them up. Everyone tried their best to do everything quickly because we did not have enough time. Seeing everyone working so hard, i also gave my best. We started work around 8 a.m. and only ended around 4p.m.. It was really tough work, but we were really pleased to see everything done up nicely.
We waited for so long, and the day finally arrived. It was Service Learning Day!! We started preparing the house very early. I helped the "ghosts" with their make-up and make some last minute touch-up. After that, i went to the cashier counter. I was suprised to see people started queuing before the house was open!! I was so delighted! After a while, the house was opened! Jie Lin and Xiao Xin started collecting money from the customers. My duty was to keep the customers' volume down. Well, i enjoyed my job as i love shouting! I was there shouting for around an hour. After everything ended, we calculated the amount we earned. We earned $300 plus!! 1e6 was so happy to know that. All our hard work paid off!!
I felt that this service learning day was a great success. I have learnt to explain nicely to the customers so of our restrictions like no food and drinks allowed in the house and the limited amount of people per trip and so on.

reflections on bullying // 7:53 PM.
I feel that bullying is becoming more serious in schools and outside schools. Many weaker, less resistant and mentally disabled students are being bullied by those who are stronger and those who are bigger in size or wealthier. They beat their victims up when they are in groups or when they see someone who is smaller in size than them. Examples of cases of bullying are: extortion, threatening, beating up people and peer pressure. People who are most likely to be bullied are those who are quiet and keep to themselves, those who do not stand up for themselves and allow themselves to be bullied, those who cannot fight back—whether verbally or with actions—like just walking away or answering with a clever response, those with low self-esteem, nerds, those who stand out or look different or have some individuality, those who have trouble fitting in with those around them, teachers’ pets, geeks, irritating students, morons etc. These are opinions of people and they think these are the type of people who are vulnerable to bullying. In schools the students act like adults, not children. The bullies are the students. There are bullies all over. They are insecure, have no sense of humour and all they can do is bully those whom they think are irritating. The quiet ones are most likely the victims of bullies. Reflection on Service Learning Day
I have been going back to school on Saturday to prepare house haunted house for the service learning day. We have already had an idea of how our haunted house is and things needed are already bought. It was a tiring day after setting up the haunted house but we have lots of fun and learn teamwork during that time.
On service learning day, we started our haunted house for people to come. I was hoping that we will not loss but earn as the things for the haunted house is quite a lot. One of my friends who lie on the bed to pretend he was dead with a white cloth covering him. My role was to inform him that someone was coming and told him to scare them as his face was covered and could not see them. It was an enjoyable time when mostly the girls were screaming when he suddenly sit up when he was actually “dead”.
It was quite successful as people keep coming making all of us very tired and busy, and we earned quite a lot too. I have learned to have teamwork with my friend in order to make it successful. We also daring to do things more and helping each other.

Reflection on Service Learning Day
Service Learning Day was held on the 21st May. It was a day where all Secondary 1 classes put up a stall to sell their products in order to earn money for their beneficiaries.
My class came up with a haunted house. On this day, my duty was to stamp people’s hands to confirm that they had paid the entrance fee to the haunted house.
Before the real day, preparations were made. During the preparations, I helped to design and put up posters as well as cut up and fix garbage bags on the walls of the CD Shelter in the school. I also helped to set-up the station with the table with a lamp, wig, wax hand and umbrella.
I thought the haunted house was a success. We earned quite a lot of money and we even had queues that were so long they reached to the tree in the car-park! We held the haunted house after school and we also had many customers. I even heard that many other students and teachers wanted us to hold the haunted house again on the 22nd May, the day after the 21st May!
From this haunted house experience, I have learnt that team-work and co-operation is very important for something successful to happen in a team. I have also truly experienced fortitude, integrity, responsibility and care and compassion through this haunted house. This was derived from the many problems we faced with our customers, our duties and our beneficiary.
Something new I have learnt about my class this time is that they seldom show their unity, unless there is a big class project that needs to be done, but all the same, 1E6 is very united, whether they show it or not!

Reflection On Bullying
When a person uses strength or superior power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker, they are considered a bully.
If someone were to get bullied, they should immediately call for help if possible. Also, if we see anyone being bullied, we should go forward to help that person. However, we must remember not to hit the bully back, as we might be in fault too for hitting a person.
I feel that there are bullies around because of peer pressure. Bullies who get influenced by other bullies might think it is cool to bully others. It may give them a sense of satisfaction and make them feel superior.
However, I think bullying is not cool at all. Not only do innocent people get harmed, the younger ones may even start to learn from the bullies too. This could directly affect their studies, friends and family relationships.
Bullies should stop what they are doing and get back on the right track, before it is too late. Everything we do has its consequences. For bullying, this includes ending up in jail. Therefore, if any of our friends are bullies, we should encourage them to stop bullying others. We should also make ourselves think twice before bullying others. (207 words)

Bullying
When one person picks on another person weaker than him, he is called a bully. Bullying normally occurs in secondary schools. To me, a bully is a coward actually. He does not have the courage to fight someone his own size but in order to show that he has might, he picks on someone weaker than him, someone who cannot fight back. Bullying often occurs because the weaker party does not have the courage to stand up for his own right. He lets the bully do whatever he likes; thinking that it will all end soon and it will all be over. This is just his imagination. Once a bully realizes that this person is a good target, he will never let him off until the weaker party decides to fight back.
I know all this because I got bullied once when I was in kindergarten. I remembered once when we were in the playroom, I played by myself in a corner. I managed to build a building using building blocks. One of the bigger boys in the playroom saw what I had built and came towards me. I to the just wanted to admire my building but then I did not realize that he was holding what he was holding: a sword made of his share of building blocks. He came over and pushed down my building, saying that my building was so weak, so useless… I did not know then, I thought that he was only playing. So when he left, I built another building. When he came again, this time I stood in front of my building, demanding that he go back to his corner to play. Realizing that I was standing on my feet now, he left. I did not know then, that what he did was actually bullying. Until I realized it, we were already 12 years old. My primary school gave a talk on bullying and I realized that, I was indeed someone who had experienced bullying.
From then on, I had a firm stand against bullying, having being bullied once and experienced the feeling of it. Of course, I can still make fun of people, and occasionally, I may have crossed the line but upon realizing it, I will apologize. I apologize with sincerity, not just to get myself out of trouble. So whenever I realize that someone is bullied, I will step forward to help. So, I think that, bullying can be prevented if the weaker party realizes that he/she can actually stand up for himself. No one will bully him if he/she plays a part in helping himself. I also know that, when someone is bullied, he/she will tend to have a feeling of despair. Only by confronting the bully will he/she make that particular feeling disappear. He/she can needs courage from his friends. Therefore, your friends are very important in helping you with your courage.

Heys!! 1e6, you rocks today man!! Today is the 'service learning day' for secondary 1. Every class tried their best to get as many customers as possible. Of course, 1e6 showed their 'weapon' for the day, the HAUNTED HOUSE!! The queue was really very long!! Many seniors and friends came and gave their support. They enjoyed the games alot. Some of them even queued for a second time. Before the fun, the 1e6 pupils had a hard time setting up ther place. Some of the pupils came back on a Saturday to help. We spent a lot of time setting the place up. We planned so long just for today!
Finally, the day arrived!! We spent time helping the 'ghosts' put on make-up(we spent a lot of time because the face paint just would not stay on the face!!), and making last minute amendments to the decorations. Even we open the stall, there were already people queuing up!! Finally, the haunted house is was ready!! People started to pay and get into groups. As the queue was too long, we decided to let them go in in groups of 10 and 11s. The people was so patient!! Some of them waited 40 plus minutes, yet continued to queue just to go into our haunted house! After the two recesses, there were still people queuing! The haunted house was really a fav for zhonghuarians!!
After school, we operated for 1 hour. The queue was not as long as before, but there were still people. After the last group, we had a debrief in CD shelter. We counted the amount of money earned. The amount was a huge one and we were all delighted!! (sorry, i forgot the amount!)
1e6 had did a great job this time!!
3 cheers & 3 cheers & 3 cheers for e6,
hip hip, hooray!!
hip hip, hooray!!
hip hip, hooray!!
e6, keep it up!!

Reflection on bully
Many people are afraid of bullying. What exactly is bully? In the Longman Contemporary Dictionary, “bully” means “to threaten to hurt someone or frighten them, especially someone smaller or weaker ”.
Bully applies in both secondary schools and primary schools. Some kindergartens also have the action that the senior bully the junior. But why people like bully other people? Well, maybe they just think that bullying is cool, bullying can make people show respect to them. Or they just simply feel that bully other people will make them high or make them feel stronger. When we grow older and older, some people like to organize a group of people to listen to them which called “gang”. The members of the “gang” must fight and pay money to the chairman. If they want to quit the “gang”, it may cause a lot of trouble. They may either lots of money or get fighting by other members of the “gang”.
If you see someone is bullying other people, do not just stand by and doing nothing. If there is a lot of people bullying one people, do seek teacher’s help. If there is only a few people, stand outside and stop them. Tell them, bullying is a serious matter.

Reflection – Bullying
People bully others for many reasons. It could have been because they want others to be afraid of them, think that they are superior. Other reasons could be that they want to forget about their own problems by bullying others. Of course, there are other reasons why people bully others. But, it is not right to bully others. When you bully someone, they would feel scared or angry.
I had never been really bullied before only name-calling which is quite common and I did not bother about such things. If I were ever bullied, I would report the incident as if I leave it alone, others might get bullied too and the bully would get away without any punishment. Likewise, if I saw others getting bullied, I would also report to stop the bully. It is not very good to step in if you saw someone getting bullied as you might be bullied as well or you might only make matter worse.
I think that bullying is a serious problem as it would make the victim feel unsafe. Also, the bully would continue to bully others. Schools can keep closer watch on bullies. Also, they can hold talks to students so that they would know what to do when they encounter a bully. Students can also help by being friends with the victims. It would help the victim to be less afraid and the student can help them to report if they do not dare to. For the bullies, we can start by showing care and concern for them. If it does not work, then they would have to be punished.

Reflecti0ns 0n bullying :)) // 10:07 PM.
Reflection on bullyingWhat is bullying? According to the
Longman dictionary, bullying means to threaten, to hurt someone or frighten them especially someone who is weaker or smaller.
Why do people bully one another? People bully because it makes them feel stronger and more alive. Bullies have wrong mindsets, thinking that if they bully others, people will fear them and not go near them. They think that they are at advantage when they threaten the smaller ones for money. But in actual case, they are wrong, very wrong!
Actually the real people who are cowards are the bullies. How do bullies land themselves in this state? They might have been bullied before. Who wants to be bullied, ever thought of this before? The answer is nobody. Try putting yourself in their shoes. You might be abused at home, thus, you have to put on a brave front to show that you are not afraid of anything.
Bullying has also been getting from bad to worse as cases of bullying are not known to both parents and teachers, afraid that they might be beaten up. Though schools have tried their best in giving talks and counseling but they don’t really work. You can still see cases of bullying in primary schools, secondary schools, high schools and even kindergarten nowadays! American students were killed by a Korean guy who was constantly being teased by them because of his speech and accent.
If I were the victim, I would look into his or her eyes and tell them. “Listen, I don’t like to be bullied by you neither am I going to tolerate any of such acts anymore. You better stop what you are doing or I shall report to the teacher.”
If you are afraid of telling the bully face to face, recognize the bully’s face or name and report to the teacher or any adults whom you can trust. Remember, whatever you do, do not fight back. If any valuables are taken away from you, report it to the police immediately.
If you see anyone getting bullied, do not just stand there and look because help is not going to drop from the sky. Report to any adults near that district or area who might be of any help. If such cases are reduced, Singapore would be a safer country and people living here will be happier.

reflections on bullying // 10:05 PM.
I think that bullying is a sign of weakness for both the bullies and the bullied. The bullies bully cause they wanted to have the power to control the other party. Bullying the weak ones will make them feel a sense of power that they could do anything to them, beat them up, crash them up. This could show that they are in need of power, in need of attention. Those that were bullied, are weak and could not defend for themselves.
Bullying mainly consists of the bullies beating the bullied, telling them to do homework or they will hurt them, telling them to help them to cheat during tests and so on. If not, the consequence will be themselves walking home with bumps and bruises on their heads. Bullying is a violence act, and the causes of it to happen is the bully cannot get to do what he wants to do, so he would pose as a threat to the others that if they don’t help him to get the job done, they will beat them up if the job is not well done. It’s just like a boss and a worker, if the worker does not do well like the way his boss wants, they will get fired, just that bullying has much more violence.
Usually, the bullied does not dare to tell anyone that they had been bullied. They are afraid that when the bully found out, they would get beaten again. However, if they were to think otherwise, it could totally solve the problem. If the teachers and principal knew about this incident, they could counsel the bullies and keep a watch out on them. Plus, the bully might not possibly only bully one person. Thus, the more people they bully, the more it’s hard for them to guess who’s the person who told the teachers and principal. If everything went successfully, the bullied will not only prevent himself from being bullied, but also the others who was bullied by the bully as well.
Bullying might seemed cool to a few people, cause they can treat them the way they want it. Bullying is contagious, spreading out fast and furiously. It’s like a new trend. However, they are also some cases that people bullying as they wanted to be in the crowd, with the people which is so-called “ friends ”. As they wanted to hang out with the “ friends ” , they went to bully the weaker students just to be able to mix with the crowd.
In conclusion, bullying is a bad thing, for both the bully and the bullied. All of us should not bully the weaker friends around us but instead, help him and train himself to be a better person. If we were bullied, we must not be afraid to go up and report to our parents and the teachers, it might not only prevent the problem, but also we could help the others that were also been bullied by him to be “free” and change the bully to a better person.

Reflection on bullying
(Jasmine Tay) (11)
What is bullying? In the dictionary, the meaning is being cruel or overbearing, especially to smaller or weaker people. Of course, bullying is a very negative word to others. When we heard this word, we will think of something that is bad.
Bullying is something very common in school, especially in secondary school, when teenagers will have a higher chance of rebellion, doing silly things. Most of the time, the seniors students will bully the juniors, threaten them to give them their pocket money. However, bullying not only happen between schoolmates, sometime between classmates too. Some students may just call their classmates names. This is also consider as bullying. By calling other classmates names may hurt them badly, causing them to feel sad. This type of thing mostly happens to the weaker and quiet students.
We always think that it is wrong to be a gangster. Although it is true, but why we did not think, why they want to be gangster and bully others? Teenagers may become bad because they mixed with friends that are bad too. Teenagers may also learn bad things when their parents did not set a good example to their children. Some teenagers become a gangster to bully others just to get attention from their parents. This type of teenagers may bully students that are happier than themselves, like having caring parents. They may be jealous of them and just beat them up just to feel better.
Thus parents should set a good example and care more about their children. They should also set a good example. Knowing bullying is something that is wrong should be taught from young. Bullying is a silly action and we should not bully others. We should do things that are more meaningful.

Reflection on Bullying
I think that bullying is a very ridiculous act that happens in most of the schools. Bullying is no longer a rare act in schools but happens occasionally. In my opinion, I think that bullies bully students is not out of mischief but so as to release stress and to let people think that they should not underestimate them. I think that most of the bullies will probably bully students who are clever and capable in school, always being known as the apple of a teacher’s eye. They think that teachers are unfair and only adore the more capable students, so as to release their anger, they will result to bullying. In my opinion, I think that they should not bully others as bullying is not the right way to do. People should not bully as this will lead to injuries on students and the consequences will be really big. I think that schools should try to talk them out and give them more advice, telling them that they will be canned if being spotted bullying others. This is so as to make them more frightened and thus not bullying others. It is offensive to bully other students. So, we should not bully others. I hope that there will be fewer cases on bullying and so there will be less chaos in school; this can also be a good example to the juniors who are new to the school. I hope that bullies will know what is right and what is wrong to do, so that there will be more peace in the school.

Bullying people is a wrong thing to do. I have not come across an incident like this, but if I were the victim. I would report it to a teacher or tell my parents about it immediately. If I do not report it, no one can help me and I will get bullied again and again. I have read some of these incidents in the newspapers where the victim gets bullied in school and dares not go to school anymore. I think a teenager bullies others because they think it is fun as people would be scared of them. They think the victims would respect them too. They pull their hair, pull down their pants, beat them, order them around, want them to do their homework and so on. Being a bully is so cruel! I think most victims do not dare to report the incidents as they may be threatened by the bullies or are afraid that the bullies will come after them if they had report it. If I had witnessed an incident like this, I would immediately report it and the victim can be saved, even if I do not know him or her. By saving the victim, I can save the other victims too, and maybe, myself. I think bulling is a serious problem in every school. I think the school can prevent it by telling the students how serious bullying is and teach them what to do when they get bullied. The school can also counsel the bullies. This may help to reduce bullying in school.

Bully Reflection // 8:08 PM.
Bullying
Bullying, this word will strike a chord with many people in the world. According to a survey Harvest Centre for Research, Training & Development, and also the Coalition Against Bullying for Children & Youth, 95 percent of students in Singapore have experienced bullying before. Many adults think that bullying is just something everyone goes through and that it would not affect their child much. However, they are wrong. The gunman of the Virginia Tech shooting was Cho Seung-Hui, a 23 year-old. When he was in high school, he was constantly picked on by others because of his shyness and unusual speech patterns. Though there was no evidence that this caused him to kill 32 people and injure many in his university, but the bullying must had inevitably caused him to act weird when he was in university. This indirectly caused him to plan the massacre.
Since bullying has been said to have many disadvantages, why do people still bully? It is because bullying makes them feel good about themselves. Imagine this: when you fall down, what do many people do? They laugh sadistically and never even try to help you up. So whenever a bully sees his victims begging for forgiveness, hears them cry for help, it makes them feel good about themselves. This can be a way of gaining pleasure, though temporary, when the bully has problems in his/her life. Secondly, bullying helps you gain popularity. Somehow, people think that those who are feared are ‘cool’. For example, there was an incident in which a few girls punched and stripped another of their schoolmate. They recorded the incident and posted in on video-sharing sites. In a month, the video already received ten thousand over hits. Insane you may think, but it is the cold, hard truth.
Here is a standard answer you find in the textbook on how to stop getting bullied: Tell your teacher or your parents that you are being bullied. That is a good way of not getting yourself bullied. However, how many of the victims will have the courage to stand up and tell his or her teacher? The victims fear that after the teachers know about the bully, the bully will bully him even more. The probability of this is not much, but it is just an obstacle that stops them from telling their teachers. In my opinion, since the victims cannot help themselves, we should help them. As long as we are not those who have no initiative to help others, we can tell the teachers about the bully. That is if, as I said, we want to help. Actually, there are ways to reduce bullying, such as educating the bullies or placing teachers or people to patrol the school, however there is never a way of stopping bullying completely. What we can try to do is to try to minimize what has been done. Not only the bullied has to be counseled, the bully has to too. A lot of support from the victim’s family is needed for the victim to be recovered from the emotional damages.
Almost everyone thinks that bullies are usually those who have problems with their life. Actually, it is not only them. In fact, it could be anyone. Bullying does not have to be only restricted to physically harm. Calling other people names or ostracizing them. Even the teacher’s pet could be a bully too when he makes others feel inferior to him. So next time, whenever you call someone 'noob', even if it is a joke, the person might still find it offending. Maybe a bully is reading this now, maybe a bully is writing a reflection on bullying now.
Sometimes, when handling such bullying cases, we often ignore the bully and emphasize more on the victim. At this rate, the bully can never change and will continue to bully others. In my opinion, many bullies are entrapped in a never-ending cycle, when they grow up, most of them will become criminals and in the end, when the law gets them, they are remorseful, yet unable to change because it is too late. So we must tackle this problem when they are the most vulnerable-when they are young.
Also, remember never to start bullying. You may feel good about kicking the soul out of someone, but what happens if you were the one getting your soul kicked out? When you regret, it is usually too late...

Reflections on Bullying
What is bullying? Bullying is an act that will hurt someone else physically or emotionally. Bullying is not only making the person hurt on the body. By calling other people names is also an act of bullying.
Have you ever think before why do the bullies like to bully? There are many reasons to that question. One of the reasons maybe because they are afraid, afraid of being bully. Bullying other people will make them feel brave, feel good. They think that by bullying other people, they can be safe from being bullied by other bullies. However, if they do not want to be bullied, why they do that to others? Put yourself in to their shoes, if you were the victim, how will you feel?
If you are being bullied, what will you do? If i were one of the victims, i will report it to the teacher or any adult that can be of a help. If you are a bully, stop whatever you are doing now. Being bullied or bullying people are not cool. They are evil acts. As long as you are willing to change, you friends will still accept you. True friends will forgive all your wrongdoings.

Reflections on bullying
Actually, bullying is threatening, frightening and hurting someone weaker or smaller done by someone with power and strength. Bullies can be found in almost all schools and there have already been many victims. Why do bullies bully? I guess this would be the question in all our minds. There are many reasons why bullies bully.Let me tell you some and I will elaborate on them: They think that bullying is cool. They have troubles and cannot find someone to tell to. They grew up in a bad environment like many fights happening there. Their parents spend very little time with them They have communication breakdown with their parents. The first one is that the bullies think that bullying is cool. Actually, bullying is uncool. Those who bully might feel that they are very powerful and they deserve respect. Thus, they feel happy so they would continue bullying. Others might also feel that the bullies are great and thus decide to join them and form a gang. The second reason is that the bullies normally have personal troubles and cannot find someone to tell to. Bullies with this case is very troubled and do not know what to do. They are very angry so they would usually vent their anger on little and small victims. After venting their anger, they would feel happier. One of the many reasons why bullies bully is also because that they themselves grew up in a bad environment.(eg:environment where many fights happened.) When a person grows up in a bad environment, he/she would surely be affected and gradually become bad. Thus, he/she might become a bully and be like those people they saw when they were young and go around bullying others. Last but not least, the fourth reason is that the bullies have very little time to be with their parents as they might be working. Their parents often neglect them as they are too engrossed in their work that they forgot to take out time to be with their children. This caused the children to feel lonely and the more emotional kids might even think that everyone despises them. So, the lonely children will feel green with envy when they saw other children with their parents happily, resulting in the change of them into bullies to make them feel better when they see their victims as unhappy as them. Bullying is hurting, threatening and even calling others names. Cases of bullying can happen in school or even outside. To prevent yourself from being bullied, just don't look at them in the eye, stare at them or even gesture and saying anything about them in front of them. If you meet bullies unfortunately without doing any of the above mentioned, you can just run away. Remember not to fight with them, running away is the best solution. If you fight with them, you are also guilty of being involved in a fight and might be charged by the police. Another consequence is that the bully might call up his gang members to help him fight you. At that time, you would be outnumbered and I bet you would try to run away. Think! Do you think the bully would let you run away? Fat chance! Dream on! So, after thinking again, do you regret picking up a fight and not heeding my advice? Although if you ran away, called the police and risked angering the bullies, you would still be safe right? The police would protect you for sure. I feel that bullies actually is good in the heart. They are only under the influence of something bad that caused them to become bullies. Actually, being a bully has no benefits. They risk of being caught and they might be jailed for their childish actions. I feel that the "bullies" problems can be solved if their parents spend more time with them to understand their wants and give them more care and warmth. So, bullies, listen up, your parents care a lot for you. They love you very much and they would not want you to do anything foolish. Thus, QUIT your "jobs" and lead a brand new life. Your future is in your hands, you control it and no one else.
