Reflection on Bullying
Bullying, when looked up in a dictionary, has the meaning: deliberately frighten someone who is smaller are weaker than you.
I learnt that even by small things like calling other people or your friends names is also called bullying. I did not think about it too much but when you look back, yes, I am bullying my friends by calling them names as they does not want to be laughed at. I also does not want my friends to do that to me too, so now, whenever I wants to call people names, I would think before I do it as maybe this “funny” act of mine may hurt their pride.
I really hated bullies as I witnessed my friend being bullied by a senior in my primary school. He was a naughty boy who always gets into trouble. As my friend and I were taking the same school bus back home with him everyday, we witnessed how he had bullied the lower primary students. Soon, my friend became one of targets too. He bullied her by scolding her with vulgarities, called her names and as the juniors were scared of him, no one stand against him. Those that were of his age did not stand against him too, instead, they watched and even helped him. One day, my friend finally broke into tears and I was very angry with him that I shouted at him and shouted me back. So, we got into an argument and it did not stop until I got down from the bus. Soon after that, a senior who were of the same age of him started to stand against him and they even got into a fight one day. They did not stop arguing until they left the school. My friend who was bullied had a even stronger character and stand against bullies now as she finally realized that she will not be bullied if she stand against them instead of keeping quiet and let them bully her.
People may think that bullying other and bullies are cool, but they are not! Bullies are cowards. Bullies think that when they bully others, people will think they are cool, but to me, they just have lack of security.
