I have always wanted something like E-learning to happen as it allows us to learn from the internet with the freedom from time constriction, so I felt very excited when I heard about our school organising this E-learning Day.

I enjoyed E-learning as you could choose what you want to do first and you can also take a break after doing some assignments. We could also communicate with our friends using other methods and we do not have to wake up so early.

However, nothing is without flaws. The some of the instructions on the website were not clear. I was confused on what I was supposed to do and I took some time to understand the instructions. I also got many phone calls and e-mails from my classmates asking what they were supposed to do. Some of the links given were broken or directed us to a place in which we have to find out where the documents are. Finding them wasted precious time that could have been used to do more work.

There was also a time limit on one of the assignments, so if we miss it, we do not have a second chance to do it. I was one of those who missed it and luckily my friend sent me the questions. I think the time limit should be extended, if better still, there should not be any time limits at all.

Lastly, there was too much work to be done. Our teachers gave us some homework to do during the weekend. If we add those together, the amount of homework is akin to a mountain. Those who did not clear some homework on Friday and Saturday will experience a very huge burden on Sunday as they try to finish everything in the eleventh hour.

To end off, I think this year’s E-learning is a success in terms of learning online, but there are some major flaws that need to be addressed to make it a completely pleasant way of learning.

Anthony's Reflections on E-learning Day

Today is Friday, 13 July, which is our E-learning Day. It was a day which we need not go to school. We just had to do our homework online on that day. Such days are held just in case we cannot go to school one day because of whatever outbreaks of diseases. Our class had Chinese, Geography, Science, Maths and English homework. I enjoyed about the survey the most because I can finally know what I think about my teacher after they had taught me for one semester. I enjoyed doing the Geography homework the most as it was quite easy. My opinion of E-learning is that it is a very useful site as we would not have to worry if any disaster strike one day. On the internet, we can still do our homework without being affected by the disaster. Through E-learning, we can also learn many lessons like following instructions given to you and be responsible. E-learning also teaches us to be fast when doing our homework because the limit time is only one day. One example would be the Maths assignment. The instructions given says that the Maths homework is only available from ten o'clock to eleven o'clock so we do not know whether the 11.00 is in the afternoon or midnight. Luckily, I had done it early in the morning so I do not have to worry. I really hope that there would be more E-learning day because it is very useful.

Jingpin's E-learning Day Reflection

I personally think that e-learning is something subjective because the hardworking ones will take the opportunity to learn more. However, the others may think otherwise. I think that E-learning can only be successful only that the instruction is clear to allow all pupils to understand. Therefore, they can do the work as instructed by the teacher.
E-learning has its good points and its bad points. It can allow students to relax more than normal school days as students can rest more. However, this may lead students to sleep late at night which is bad for both the health and the studies. E-learning also encourage studies in a fun and exciting way. However, the homework load planned for all levels are too much to finish. The math’s quizzes also opened only from 10 to 11 which most people are unaware of. I think that the school can add in learning previews so student can learn more.
I know that E-learning is planned for us to get prepared for unexpected diseases that may affect our studies. I think that E-learning 2007 is successful but more can be done to improve. I hope to see clearer instruction by E-learning 2008.
In all, E-learning is quite useful to students but the workload can decreases to meet the students’ requirement. Even though, I look forward to E-learning next year.
