Old Ghosts ~~ { Xiao Xin } [Jiayou!!!] // 12:07 PM.

This story mainly revovles around the childhood life of the main characters, Jim and Ellen. The story starts off with Jim, now being a seventy six year old man, reflecting of his past and all his wrongdoings towards his childhood sweetheart, Ellen. He was remorseful for what he did to Ellen.

Jim and Ellen were in love with each other when Jim was sixteen years old. When Jim turns seventeen, he followed his father on a business trip. His father was not a good role model for Jim, being the lustful man he is. Jim carelessly followed the path to wrongdoings, like what his father did. Immature Jim broke up with Ellen for the other girl. He did not realised that he has hurt Ellen deeply. Despite the fact that Jim have abandoned her, Ellen waited patiently for Jim, hoping to have an enviable lovelife with him one day. Unfortunately, Ellen died at the age of nineteen due to a serious illness. It was only then that Jim mature and realised that he have done much wrong to Ellen. The death of Ellen rings a bell in him, and Jim regretted for what he did.

The story ends off with the present Jim, at the age of seventy six, lying on his bed waiting for death to come knocking on his door. Ellen came and took Jim away, both of them soaring to the moonlight.

Jim is a careless character who follow other people's path blindly. The immaturity of his behavior when he was young have made him live with remorse for the rest of his live. He did not think of the consequences behind his action and have cause a terrible ending to his life.

Jim's action have shown us to cherish everything in life that we have. One wrong footing on our journey of life can cause great harm to us or even the people around us. Although mistakes are inevitable, we must learn from our mistake and not do it again. Whatever we do, there will always be consequences behind it. We must think out of the box before we do anything.

This story thus relates to real life situation. The moral behind this story is to think before doing anything, as one wrong mistake could cause grave impact on our life. Cherish what we have now before it's too late. We must make wise decisions and also to think ahead before we act.

I think that the ending of the story whereby Jim died is perhaps, a good ending. As Jim have live his whole life full of regrets for his wrongdoings towards Ellen, perhaps his death is the only way for him to repent what he did wrong to Ellen. His death also allow Ellen to meet him again and both parties were happy.
