This story is about a man named Jim Brennan who lives alone. It was his seventy-six birthday, yet, it seemed like no one cared or knew. He spent his birthday thinking about the past when he was with Ellen, his childhood sweetheart. He was remorseful for he did wrong to Ellen, memories of Ellen started to flash in his mind. One day, he went with his father to a business trip during the summer vacation. His father was not a good role model for Jim being the lustful man that he was. Still, Jim followed his father's wrong doings and caused Ellen to hurt.
Being so immature, he told Ellen that he did not want her anymore. He did not think about the consequences of his actions and broke up with her. Ellen was patient, she hoped and waited for Jim to return to her until she passed away with a sickness. And only when she left, Jim started to realise that he had lost the most wonderful gift from above. Perhaps, the death of Jim was a good thing, which meant the reconcilation of the two childhood sweethearts.
Relating this to our lives, we can see that one wrong footing can leave us with nothing but emptiness and regret. We must think of the consequences before we act, it is the same for everything that we do in our everday live. What we choose to do now can affect us for life, still, we have to move on. Don't learn from Jim, do not follow blindy, as blind sheeps do fall down if not careful. Treasure what we have now, do not wait till it is lost and start treasuring it only when it's gone. This "it" here refers to anything, so open your eyes big before taking any step. Actions come with consequences, make the right choice today.
